Ena Whittaker
- My mother Ena was born a Whittaker on 13 April 1915 in Burnley, Lancashire. She died 1983. She had one sister, Elsie (abt 1917-1999)
James (b1881)
- Ena's parents were James Whitaker and Hilda Tuck who were married 23 September 1914.
- James (18 Apr 1881-1970) had 2 sisters, Laura (1899- ?) and Elizabeth (1889 - 1950). We used to visit Auntie Laura and Uncle Harry regularly. Harry was Harry Brown - the RY part of Lanry bleach, of Nelson, with his brother Alan.
- James was a tatler at a local cotton mill. He was an inventive person - I enjoyed his home made mouse trap and his garden shed lock. He was the first in the familt to have a television - bought for the Coronation 1952. The whole family was at 48 Florence Street, Burnley that day.
Septimus (b1860)
- James (b1881) parents were Septimus Whittaker (b1860) and Elizabeth Harrison (b1860). They were married 1 Nov 1884 at Holy trinity, Habergham Eaves, Burnley. Septimus was a cotton loom overlooker. 1901 they lived at 33 Clive Street, Stoneyhome, Burnley and in 1911 lived at 40 Belgrave St. Burnley. I've not found him in the Census records from 1871 and 1891.
- The 1881 Census gives he is single, a cotton weaver living with his mother Elizabeth and siblngs Elizabeth (23), John (19) and Annie (16). They lived at 6 King St., Haberhgham Eaves, Lancashire.
- I cannot find his birth in BMD, but the 1861 Census gives his age is 1 and he was born at Habergham Eaves, Burnley.
James (b1823)
- James married Elizabeth Hargreaves (b1822) at Manchester Cathedral (?) in 1847. He was born at Thornton in Craven.
- The Census 1851 showed they lived at 9, Whip Street, Habergham Eaves, and had children Ellen(3) and Mary (1). The 1861 Census showed they lived at 3, Whip Street, Habergham Eaves, Burnley.
